Wilo Pump Troubleshooting

NextGen Boiler – Stuck impeller on Wilo Circulator

It has been brought to our attention that installers have experienced a couple of instances with a stuck impeller on the Wilo circulator. The control panel pump symbol will blink indicating insufficient flow. In the troubleshooting section (pg15) of the NextGen Boiler installation manual we address solutions to unblock the pump. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact our technical services department at 844-227-9977

Step 1- Shut off all electric power sources to the boiler.

Step 2- Use a slotted screwdriver to remove the brass vent plug located in the center of the Wilo circulator. (Fig. 1) Note that you will observe a small amount of water coming out of the circulator.

Step 3-Locate the impeller with the screwdriver slot within the interior portion of the pump. (Fig. 2)

Step 4-Use a slotted screwdriver to turn the impeller a couple of revolutions. (Fig. 3) Replace vent plug.

Step 5- Turn power back on to the NextGen Boiler and circulating pump. Utilize the control panel to highlight the psi indicator. Observe pressure reading. If necessary, fill the boiler to the final 12-15 psi level.

Step 6- Turn on the boiler, place thermostat in heat call and ensure gpm flow. Verify the flow rate reading on the control panel and proceed to start up operation.
