Historically, heat pumps have been very efficient down to around 25 degrees…beyond that, they begin to consume more energy than they save. We’re often asked by clients how we they can overcome this issue! In addition to the heating issue, there’s always a concern of adding in a backup heat source in the event of the heat pump going down. As you can see by the below photo, NextGen is educating contractors to add a small electric boiler to solve all of this. These clients (photos below) had a Geothermal system that handled the main work of heating the home, and added in the NextGen Boiler to give that extra BTU boost when the weather turns bitter. Plus, the positive of having a backup system in place that will run in the event of a heat pump failure. A very effective solution that should be recommended by all contractors!!
